Fabulous results for UN project

I met Patricia Atkins Chiti for the first time in March 2018 for a preliminary meeting on the Women in Music for Global Human Rights project. 2018 marks the 70th anniversary since the UN Human Rights Declaration was signed and therefore it was decided to organize a celebratory concert that would honor this important milestone and showcase women composers and musicists around the world.

Patricia struck me right from the beginning as a charismatic and wise, yet extremely humble woman. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few other times and talking with her over the phone in several occasions. Our communication and planning sessions were always efficient, yet very enjoyable. She was on top of everything and delegated and led her staff with elegant and friendly manners.

Together we created the logo for the project (presented in an earlier post) and were working on other graphic items such as email templates and press releases. We also came up with the idea of creating a world map that would track all the countries that submitted. It has been exhilarating to color the world with blu and realize how the call for music has really reached the most remote angles of our globe. At the last update, almost 350 compositions had been submitted from over 90 countries. It is a remarkable result and tells a lot about the skills Patricia had in organizing events.

Unfortunately she is no longer with us but will be guiding us from above as together with Maria Longo, Veronica Penzo, Valerie Baxter and other PWA women we will continue has magnificent work and carry on with the organization of this hugely important event.
