Lemonade
Since 18 years in Italy, August has become the month of lemonade and citrus fruits for me. Most years it is almost unbearably hot and a glass of cool lemonade in the shade of a tree or aside a swimming pool is all you desire. My husband's family lives near the Amalfi Coast that is famous for its lemons and products - drinks, soaps, candies etc. - that originate from this fresh and bright citrus fruit. My mother-in-law makes limoncello, a strong alcoholic digestive with lemons. I also love fresh lemon pie.
Lemons have become so much a part of my routine that even during the winter I drink a glass of lemon water in the mornings or a cu p of hot water with lemon, ginger and honey in front of the fire place.
