Let's spread supplì all over the globe - Diffondiamo supplì in tutto il mondo
This summer I got a really exciting briefing. I was asked to design a logo for a future international franchising chain of Roman supplì. Do you know what supplì are? They are Italian snacks consisting of a ball of rice with tomato sauce and raw egg, typical of the Roman Cuisine. Originally, they were filled with chicken giblets, mincemeat or provatura, now also with a piece of mozzarella; the whole morsel is soaked in egg and coated with bread crumbs and then fried (usually deep-fried). [Wikipedia] They are delicious and it would be so cool to spread them all over the world!
I didn't get any suggestions or special requirements regarding colors, fonts or images and even the name of the company was still open. So I started by projecting on paper the image of Italy and its delicious food, through a mind-map like I always do. The things that came to my mind were: bright colors, sun, warmth, fun, joy, good food, taste and the shape of supplì (an un-regular oval shape). After several different designs and sketches I finally chose the logo you see above, a supplì (that also resembles the sun) with the name "suppli from Italy" written inside with fun, playful letters in the Italian colors. What do you say? Will this logo sell the concept abroad?!!
